Stranded migrant workers trying to cross the border from Thailand have received helped while stuck at the border due to the closure implemented by Cambodia as part of the prevention for the Covid-19. A total of 192 Cambodians of whom seven are children have received donations from the Consulate General of Cambodia in Sa Kaeo Province, in collaboration with the Labor Rights Promotion Network Foundation (LPN) and relevant authorities of Chanthaburi Province in Thailand.
They visited the migrant workers together with their family and provided food items such as rice, noodles, fish sauce, soy sauce, canned fish, beets, tomatoes, onions, eggs, milk, pure water, gel, alcohol, hand wash and some other materials. These Cambodians were hoping to cross the border despite the lockdown implemented. Although stranded and unable to successfully go back to their hometown, the Cambodian and Thailand authorities have joined hand to extend help to these stranded migrant workers waiting for the border to open. Shelter is being provided in the checkpoint area while their health is also being monitored.
